Golden Teacher Overview
Golden Teacher is a classic strain, known for its ease and speed in research compared to other strains. GT spores are the most popular on the market, making them an excellent starting point for beginners looking for a simple yet powerful strain. In the wild, Golden Teacher fruiting bodies are admired for their majestic morphology, golden hues, and heavy spore production. Our GT spores are trusted, verified, and as clean as they come, providing a fun and straightforward research experience.
Scientific Breakdown:
Species: The Golden Teacher strain belongs to the species Psilocybe cubensis, a naturally occurring mushroom found in cow dung, pastures, and other hot, humid habitats worldwide. While Golden Teacher was isolated in a laboratory, it retains many properties of its wild ancestors.
Spore Characteristics: Golden Teacher spores are dark purplish to black, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia. The caps are generally dark spore printers, measuring 40-60mm in diameter, providing ample research material. Viewing GT spores under a microscope is a spectacular experience.
Additional Information
Rarity: Golden Teacher is widely available, but finding GT spores with proven, tested genetics is rare. Many vendors offer mixed bags, old or unviable spores, or even different species altogether.
Cultural Significance: Golden Teacher accounts for nearly 23% of all psilocybe research material in the USA, making it one of the driving forces behind mainstream mycology. Its cultural relevance continues to grow, unmatched by any other mushroom.
Why Get Your Golden Teachers from Spore Genetics? If you seek high-quality genetics with vigor, quick shipping, and no contamination issues, Spore Genetics is your best choice. Our Golden Teacher spores are consistent, plentiful, and straightforward to use.

Strain Description
Caps: 50+ mm in diameter, convex to broadly convex, maturing to plane. Reddish cinnamon brown, maturing to golden brown to light yellow. The surface is dry with pronounced and persistent universal veil remnants.
Stems: 125+ mm in length, yellowish, with flesh bruising bluish-green where injured. The persistent membranous annulus from the partial veil becomes dusted with purple-brown spores at maturity.
Gills: Adnate to adnexed attachment, starting grayish and becoming nearly black at maturity.
Spores: Dark purplish brown, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia
Note: Spores are intended for microscopy and taxonomy purposes only. Images are provided for educational purposes and originate from cultivators and labs outside the US. Cultivation of this species is illegal in many countries, including the United States. Check your local regulations.
