Strain Origin & Features

Origin: Despite its name, the Maui Platinum (PES Hawaiian) strain does not actually originate from Hawaii. The exact origin is unknown. The name comes from the company Pacifica Exotica Spora (PES), which was based in Hawaii and developed this variety. PES was also responsible for the highly popular PES Amazonian strain, which is why these two varieties are often purchased together. Since Pacifica Exotica Spora no longer exists, Spore Genetics has become the premier supplier of PES Hawaiian spores.

Features: PES Hawaiian spores are dark purplish to black and subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia. The caps are generally dark spore printers, measuring 40-60mm in diameter. This strain provides ample research material.
